On change, gratitude, and the beauty of turning inward.

Happy Fall Equinox, friends.

I've been thinking a lot about the seasons lately. Maybe it's because I'm once again in the middle of some pretty big life changes, or maybe it's because I'm missing my garden and the cooler mornings in the foothills. Probably a little of both.

This time of year has always felt special to me. There's something about watching the earth begin to slow down, the days getting shorter, the air getting cooler, and the last of the summer harvest making its way onto our tables. It's a beautiful reminder that everything moves in cycles. Including us.

I'm really missing my garden right now. Getting my hands in the dirt, watering in the mornings, checking on all the little things we planted, and getting ridiculously excited when something finally started to grow. There's something so satisfying about eating food you've grown yourself. But more than anything, I think I miss the ritual of it all. The daily act of tending to something without knowing exactly what it will become.

And as I reflect on this past year, I'm realizing just how many seeds I've planted outside of that garden.

Some intentional, others planted without even realizing it. Friendships, community, opportunities, experiences, and a whole lot of personal growth. Some of those seeds have grown into things I never could have imagined. Others didn't quite make it. And there are still a few I'm patiently waiting on.

What an incredible thing it is to look back and see how much can change in a year.

As many of you know, I've recently embarked on another grand adventure. I've packed up my life once again, said some pretty difficult goodbyes, and stepped into a new chapter that feels both wildly unfamiliar and incredibly expansive.

I love change. I love the possibility of starting over, meeting new people, building community, and discovering parts of myself I didn't know existed. But that doesn't mean leaving is easy. I've been holding a whole lot of emotions lately. Gratitude for the people and places that have become home, grief for the things I'm leaving behind, excitement for what's ahead, and the occasional moment of wondering what the hell I'm doing.

All of it can exist at once.

And I think that's what I'm taking with me into this equinox.

Yesterday, we crossed that beautiful threshold between summer and fall. A moment when day and night are nearly equal, before the darkness begins to take up a little more space.

We spend so much of our lives reaching for the light. Chasing happiness, seeking growth, working toward the next big thing. And while I'm certainly not planning on giving up my big dreams anytime soon, I'm reminded that there's just as much value in the quieter, darker seasons of our lives.

The ones that ask us to slow down. To turn inward. To sit with the things we might otherwise keep ourselves too busy to feel.

To hold the shadow without forgetting the light.

I've had some pretty incredible highs this year, along with some really difficult lows. Moments of immense joy, love, connection, uncertainty, loss, and everything in between. And I'm grateful for all of it. Not necessarily because every experience was enjoyable, but because each one has brought me a little closer to understanding myself and the life I want to cultivate.

I'm learning that gratitude doesn't require everything to be wonderful. We can be grateful for what we've experienced while acknowledging what hurt. We can celebrate a beautiful chapter while knowing it's time to close it. We can be excited about what's next and still deeply miss what we've left behind.

So, as we enter this new season, I'm inviting myself to pause. To stop thinking about what else I need to do, where else I need to go, or what else I need to become, and take a moment to appreciate what's already here.

To enjoy the harvest of everything I've spent this year cultivating. And I hope you'll join me.

Take a moment over the next few days to reflect on your own harvest. Think about the seeds you planted at the beginning of the year. The relationships you've nurtured, the challenges you've moved through, the things you've created, and the ways you've grown that perhaps nobody else can see.

Celebrate the things that flourished. Make peace with the things that didn't. And remember that some seeds need a little more time beneath the surface before they're ready to grow.

As the days grow shorter, I hope we can all find a little more space for stillness. A little more compassion for ourselves and one another. A little more gratitude for this beautifully messy experience of being human.

And to everyone who has been part of my harvest this year, thank you. Whether we've shared a yoga mat, a meal, a dance floor, a garden, a good cry, or just a moment in passing, you've helped make this season of my life what it is.

I'm carrying so much of that love with me as I step into whatever comes next.

Here's to the changing seasons, the courage to begin again, and remembering that even in the darkest parts of the year, there's so much life happening beneath the surface.

With so much love and gratitude,

xoxox Axel
